The final was witnessed with young talent of the village music group, “The Cresendos”, trained by music maestro Avinash Fernandes, playing beautiful notes during the break and after the goals scored.
At the start, Ambelim SC had their lions’ share of the ball possession and their goalkeeper Benny Silva did a commendable job under the bar. They took the lead through Savlon Cardoza in the 15th minute.
Post resumption, Nial Cardoza struck a brilliant 16-yard volley to double the lead for Ambelim SC in the 60th minute. St Rock YC goalkeeper was at his best in the 62nd minute saving a powerful grounder of Nial.
It was smooth sailing for Ambelim SC than onwards as they banked on the two goals cushion till the end of the match.
The winners took home Rs 40,000 and a trophy while runners-up pocked Rs 35,000 plus trophy.
The following individual prizes were awarded: First scorer of the final Savlon Cardoza, best goalkeeper of the final Benny Silva (both Ambelim SC).
Chandrakant Kavlekar, MLA Quepem Constituency was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to winners and runners-up in the presence of other dignitaries and club officials.
Earlier, Joe Fernandes welcomed while Anil Fernandes compered. Mohan Naik proposed the vote of thanks.
