VASCO: Anirudh Parsekar of RCC Vasco, who emerged winner of 2017-18 MTCA league series (12 tournaments) striked once again by winning the Mourmugao Taluka chess tournament 2018 organised by Mourmugao Taluka Chess Association under the aegis of Goa Chess Association.
Anirudh won eight consecutive games from 9 rounds to win the Championship thus to clinch the title with one round to spare. In the final round he lost to Datta Kambli.
Brendan Peroz (RCC VASCO) & Datta Kambli (RCC VASCO) tied for the runner-up position with 7.5 each but on better tie-break point, Brendon Peroz was declared runner-up and Datta Kambli finished 3rd accordingly.
Nine-year-old Amanat Ali (RCC Vasco) displayed brilliant skills to finish on 4th position in the main list, Rudresh Fadte finished (RCC Vasco) 5th.
6th:Sanjil Hoble , 7th:Ganpule Utkarsh(RCC Vasco), 8th:Yash Paul(RCC Vasco), 9th:Rishikesh Parab(RCC Vasco), 10th:Kiran Chopdekar. The tournament concluded smoothly under the guidance of FIDE arbiter Swapnil Hoble at the DSYA Chicalim Indoor stadium.
The prizes were given by dignitaries Dhirendra Thakkar “Mannubhai”(Chairman of Hiralal Company), Asis Sequeira (Ex General Managar MMTC ltd) Kishor Bandekar (President MTCA), Umesh Dicholkar (APO DSYA), Mukund Kambli (Secretary MTCA), Pundalik Nayak (Vice-president MTCA), Swapnil Hoble (Chief arbiter), Mukesh Adhia, Anil Patil, Prashant Raikar, Vasant Naik(President Pedne Taluka chess Association).
