MAPUSA: Young Boys of Aradi got the better of Saipem Sports Club 4-2 via tie-breaker in the Friends Circle Candolim inter-ward soccer tournament, played at Candolim ground, on Monday.
In the very 4th minute of play, Alban Cardozo opened the account for Saipem SC as he beat the offside trap and placed the ball past the Aradi keeper Chandan Redkar, 1-0.
However, minutes later, Shivram managed to level terms as he guided home Sudhir’s cross, giving no chance to the rival keeper, 1-1.
In the 45th minute of play Cajie Colaco’s shot hit the cross bar and landed into Saipem keeper, Xavier Cardozo’s hands.
In the closing stages keeper Xavier brought another superb save for Saipem, keeping away Manjunath Garde’s shot.
In the resultant penalty shootout, Young Boys of Aradi scored three from the penalty spot while Saipem managed to score just one goal.
