TUEM: Augustias Sporting Club defeated host FC Tuem 8-7 via sudden death penalties to sail into the quarterfinals in the FC Tuem Champions Trophy, organised by FC Tuem in association with CAM group of Companies, at DSYA ground, Tuem.
In an evenly fought encounter, the teams were locked goalless at the end of regulation time. In the 14th minute FC Tuem’s Siddha Mandrekar dribbled past a couple of Augustias defenders and sent a beautiful cross to Stepelton Fernandes who missed to connect the ball just in front of the goal.
In the 21st minute, FC Tuem’s Dietmar’s free-kick was headed just over the crossbar by Stepelton.
Once again, in the 28th minute, Dietmar Fernandes gave a brilliant pass to Cyprian Rodrigues who could not convert into a goal.
Post-resumption, Sandesh Sawant’s powerful shot went just above Augustias crossbar.
With match ending goalless. Penalty kicks were enforced. Joyston, Akash, Harsh, Suraj, Rupesh, Pranit, Rohan and Mohammed scored for Augustias while Stepelton, Nehal, Jordon, Shashank, Bryan, Sandesh, Dietmar were on target for FC Tuem.
