Bangladesh’s World Cup hopes are hanging by a thread after the ICC turned down the BCB’s request to move its T20 World Cup 2026 fixtures out of India. The rejection has sparked a crisis within Bangladesh cricket, prompting immediate talks between the government, board officials and players. Sports advisor Asif Nazrul is expected to brief the national team amid claims that players were sidelined during early decisions. BCB president Aminul Islam said the board feared India was unsafe for the squad and proposed alternatives, including Sri Lanka venues or group swaps, but failed to secure support. The ICC has now given Bangladesh 24 hours to confirm participation, failing which Scotland is likely to replace them.
