Bastora Boys SC of Bastora emerged champions in inter-ward football tournament organised by Barcelona Boys of Vaddem at Vaddem ground. They defeated Barcelona Boys 8-7 via the sudden death in the finals. At full time the score was 3-3.
Bastora opened the score in the 7th minute through striker Vincy Martins who headed in from close range. Vincy completed his brace in the 15th minute off a direct 20-yarder scorching shot.
Down by two goals, Barcelona went into the attack and Naeen Shaikh fired a powerful 20-yarder past the Bastora goalkeeper in the 18th minute.
Bastora, hit back and Kelvin netted the third goal.
After the break, Seby Rodrigues netted the second goal for Barcelona shooting direct from the centre, while Edberg followed suit with the third goal off a corner kick.
The tie-breaker ended 4-4. Wilbur, Agnel, Watson and Sanjay scored for Bastora, while Seby, James, Rizwan and Sammy netted for Barcelona.
Vincy Martins led Bastora to victory with his power-packed shot in the sudden death.
The winners received Rs 5000, while the runners-up were content with Rs 3000.
Prizes were awarded to: Youngest players of the tournament Denzil Sequeira and Clive Fernandes of Vaddem. Best goalscorer Edberg Sequeira of Barcelona. Upcoming player Bablu Palkar of Vaddem.
Ranti Martins of Dempo Sports Club was the chief geust and gave away the prizes in the presence of guest of honour, Agnelo Lobo, ex-sarpanch of Socorro.
