VASCO: Bepari Salaudin and Suryawanshi Shivadas emerged fastest in the 100m and 200m men and women events, at the 39th annual athletic meet of MES College of Arts and Commerce, Zuarinagar, at SAG ground, Chicalim. The athletic meet began with 5000m run followed by the march past.
Chavan Lamani and Shimpy Yadav topped the 1500m run in the men and women sections respectively. Madar Chandbasu secured the first position in the 5000m run.
The Best Sportsman award went to Bepari Salaudin, Chavan Lamani and Sachin Naik. Whereas the Best Sportswomen were Suryawanshi Sweta Shivadas and Shimpy Yadav.
Several other events were also held which included shot put, javelin throw, 400m, 800m, long jump, high jump, discuss throw, triple jump and relay. March past competition was also held in which the fist place went to B.Com semester II A division, second place to B.Com semester II B division and the third place to B.Com semester II D division.
Adv. Manguirish Kenkre was the chief guest for the inaugural ceremony. The Principal, Dr RB Patil welcomed. The Sports Director of the college, PA Borgave introduced the dignitaries.
KS Patil, James Christopher, Wilfred Fernandes, Inacio Figuiredo and Edward Cabral were the special invitees. Susan Deborah compered.
Siddhant Shirodkar, police inspector was the chief guest for valedictory function. The Director of Sports of MES College, P A Borgave was also felicitated for his contribution to the college in his 39 years of service.
The function was compered by Prof. Gorak Sirsat. PA Borgave proposed the vote of thanks.
