The proposal was placed before the gram sabha on Sunday at the meeting chaired by Sarpanch Sharon Quadros, who said that the resolution will be forwarded to the government for necessary action.
Meanwhile, gram sabha members demanded a probe into the drain clearing work carried out by the Panchayat body in certain wards. When the issue was raised by the members, the Sarpanch said that the Panchayat has already taken a decision to tender all drain cleaning works in the future.
Members demanded a police inquiry into the allegation that the signatures contained in the list of employees engaged for the work were manipulated.
Quadros told the media that she would place the gram sabha decision for a police probe before the Panchayat body for appropriate action. .
