CURTORIM: Betalbatim Sporting Club defeated Cortalim Villagers Sports and Social Welfare Association 3-2 to storm into the semi-finals of Curtorim Gymkhana Cup inter-village football tournament, at St Alex Curtorim Church ground, on Saturday.
Betalbatim scored the first goal in the 12th minute through Klusner Pereira of the pass received from Frazier Rogtao with his right footer from top of the penalty area.
Cortalim mounted pressure and equalised in the 18th minute through Eldrich D’ Silva who received a long right diagonal pass from Sydney Monteiro.
Betalbatim took the lead in the 24th minute as Klinsman Pereira scored with his powerful free kick.
Again Cortalim equalised in the 35th minute through Samuel Da Silva.
In the dying minutes of the match Klusner Pereira scored a half volley left footer from centre giving no chance to Cortalim goalkeeper Joe Menezes.
In the semi-finals Betalbatim will meet Curtorim Gymkhana on August 6.
