PANJIM: Borda RCC Margao edged out Ponda RCC by 1 wicket to enter the final of the Bodgeshwar inter-RCC tournament, at Korgaonkar ground.
Batting first after winning the toss, the Ponda batsmen could not score the tight bowling of Borda and were bundled out for 115 in 20 overs. Atharva Mopkar (21), Salil Korde (26) opened and shared the first wicket partnership of 43 runs.
Thereafter, the rest of the batsmen were dismissed by the Borda bowlers. Saiesh Saterdekar (3 for 28) and Tushar Kudnekar (3 for 10) helped Borda restrict their opponents.
The outstanding fielding effort made by the Ponda side contributed to 3 run outs which restrained the Borda batsmen but a partnership off 50 runs for the 5th wicket between captain Kaushal Singh (23 not out) and Omprakash Lenka (35) brought the victory closer.
Following Lenka’s run out, a late charge from Bharat Chowdhary (13) took the score to 118 for 9 in the second ball of the 20th over.
Viraj and Prathamesh took 2 wickets each while Saniket and Bogati took one each for the Ponda side.
Borda will now play the winner of Panjim and Mapusa on May 26, at 2 p.m.
