RAIA: Canacona Sports and Cultural Club defeated Uguem Rising Club 3-2 to emerge champs at Assumpta Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Sarzora SC at Chinchinim church ground. They led 3-1 at the break.
Canacona scored through Velvino (2). Alvito was the other scorer. For Uguem Rising both goals were scored by Handlee.
Canacona won Rs 40,000. Ugem had to be content with Rs 30,000 besides trophies.
Earl Fernandes of Canacona was adjudged best goalkeeper of the tournament. Jerico D’Costa of Uguem Rising claimed the best goalkeeper of the final prize. Caetano Fernandes, GFA president was the chief guest. He handed over the prizes in the presence of Velim MLA Cruz Silva and other dignitaries.
