MAPUSA: Candolim Sports Club registered a hard-fought 1-0 win over Youth Sports Club of Colvale to enter the semi-finals of Candolim Panchayat Cup organised by Candolim SC at Dr Gustavo Monteiro ground, Candolim, on Saturday.
Early in the match, Anuj Kuutikar of Candolim SC missed an open sitter.
In the 15th minute of play, Chaitanya Dhabolkar shot went inches over the YSC Colvale crossbar.
Finally, in the 32nd minute, Candolim SC went ahead through Saish Bagkar whose shot went through the legs of YSC Colvale keeper Manuel Viegas, 1-0.
In the 38th minute, Candolim SC’s keeper brought a smart save of a fierce strike from Jones D’Souza.
On crossing over, Candolim SC had the upper hand but their forwards missed number of scoring chances. The man-of-the-match award was bagged by Saish Bagkar of Candolim Sports Club.
