PANJIM: Carmel College, Nuvem scored a resounding 4-0 win over Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim, to win the Goa University Women’s Football Championship, organised by Goa University and played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Thursday.
The Nuvem College dominated the play from the first whistle as captain Janiece Gomes and Velarie Fernandes totally outplayed their opponents with quick passing in the midfield.
Carmel didn’t take long as Alisha gave her side a well deserved sixth minute lead. Alisha doubled the account at the half-hour mark before completing her hat-trick in the second half.
Rosary College were totally outplayed. The Navelim College conceded a penalty when keeper Annette Da Costa tripped Vailanka D’Souza in the box. Velarie Fernandes stepped over and coolly converted the spot kick.
Anline Fernandes toiled for Rosary in the forward line but didn’t get much support from her teammates.
At the other end, Linda was outstanding for her team.
