PANJIM: Carmel SC thrashed Dando Boys Club, Benaulim 9-0 in a one side contested quarter-final of the Third Division League organised by Goa Football Association, at the Artificial Turf, Fatorda, on Monday.
Dando Boys Benaulim kicked off proceedings for the first half and it was Carmel SC who netted the first for the day through a brilliant shot into the nets by Joevin Costa off the cross by Engelbert Azaredo in the 1st minute of the game itself.
Carmel SC doubled their lead in the 15th minute of the game through a well placed strike into the left corner of the post by Daclan Fernandes.
First chance for the Benaulim boys came when Cliff Dias’ well placed shot was cleared by the Carmel defenders. Carmel SC went into the break with a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Moving into the second half of the match nothing seemed to have been working for the Benaulim boys as Laxman Thappa scored for Carmel SC in the 58th minute after receiving a well-placed pass into the box by Christopher Vaz.
Laxman added another to his tally in the 64th minute with a well-placed shot in the top corner of the post making it 4-0.
Coming off the bench for Carmel SC’s Bosco Lobo scored in the 80th minute after an easy run into the 18 yard making it 6-0.
Carmel SC struck hard with quick goals by Bosco Lobo in the 86th and 87th minute which completed his hat trick making it 8-0 leaving the Dando Boys in total dismay.
In the additional time Bosco did no mistake with a fine shot into the nets taking his final tally to four for the day and ensuring his team had an easy win over Dando Boys Club, Benaulim.
