CES, SS Dempo, Chowgule and MES cruise into next round

DM’s, PCCE, Swami Vivekananda, Agnel Institute and Don Bosco also march ahead

PANJIM: CES College, Cuncolim, showed full domination by demolishing VMS Hospitality, Raia, 7-0 in the Goa University’s Inter-Collegiate Football Men’s Championship 2023-24 played at Goa University ground, Taleigao Plateau, on Thursday.

For CES College, Rahul Gaonkar, Livon Dias, Akshay Veliptwo scored a goal each while Ivo Costa netted a brace in the first half. 

Crossing over, CES College scored another two goals through Pranay Gaonkar and Ivo Costa, who registered his hat-trick in the 61st minute of the match.

SS Dempo College cruised into the next round by defeating PG Goa University 3-0. In the first half, SS Dempo College scored two goals with the efforts of Vishavet Palkar and Chirag Konthankar. In the second half, a goal from Chirag Konthankar sealed the victory for SS Dempo College.

At Rosary College ground, Navelim, It was a one-sided affair wherein Chowgule College, Margao, trounced SRIEIT, Shiroda, 7-0. In the first half, Chowgule College scored three goals, through Aryan Pattamakar, Norman Mascarenhas and Shenoy Colaco. 

On resumption of play, Chowgule College continued their domination, putting in another four goals which came one each from Khalil Barreto, Shelton Fernandes and a brace by Adarsh Ray.

MES College, Zuarinagar, defeated Shree Mallikarjun College, Canacona, 4-1. The first goal of the match was scored by Pradeep Bind of MES College, which was filled by a graceful equaliser by Sidhesh Gaonkar of Shree Mallikarjun College. 

Before the end of first half, MES College took the lead with a goal from Jagdish Chawan. 

In the second half, MES College showed full domination and scored another two goals which came from Shivam Baraik and Sainath Jambothicar to seal the victory.

On Wednesday, DM’s College and Research Centre, Assagao, demolished Mandre College, Mandre, 8-0.

For DM’s College Nicholas D’Costa, Vismay Dawre (one goal each), Sanket Mandrekar (brace) in the first half. In the second half, DM’s College scored another four goals with a brace each by James David and Nicholas D’Costa.

PCCE, Verna, outplayed Goa College of Hospitality and Culinary Education 4-0.  

Aaron Cardozo (1), Jasmon Dias (1), Biljoy Figueirdo (1) and Aaron Cardozo (1). Swami Vivekananda College, Borim, edged past Goa Medical College, Bambolim, 2-1. 

Shoaib Zaidi (1) for Goa Medical College. Swami Vivekananda College scored two goals, Suraj Gaonkar (1) and Eshan Gaude (1).

 At Rosary College ground, Navelim: Agnel Institute of Technology and Design, Assagao, thrashed Ganpat Parsekar College of Education, Harmal, 6-0. For Agnel Institute Roger D’Souza (2). Mohan Kalangutkar, Mahadev Parwar, Vishal Naik and Myles Coutinho (1 each). 

Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, and Vidya Prabodhini College, Porvorim, went to a tie-breaker with a full time score of 0-0. The game was finally decided through a tie-breaker in which Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, won by a score 5-4.

Don Bosco College, Panjim, scored a solitary goal win over PES’s Ravi Naik College, Farmagudi. The only goal of the match was scored by Jason Sequeira in the very 2nd minute.
