MAPUSA: Chapora Yuvak Sangh carried on their winning streak registering a fluent 3-1 win over YSC Colvale in a Second Division Football League match at Duler stadium here, on Wednesday.
It was the third win for Chapora YS. For YSC it was their second defeat.
Nearly, 2000 spectators, mostly the teams’ supporters, turned out to witness match. It was in the 23rd minute that Chapora shot into the lead as a fierce shot by Aniket Naik was too hot for Colvale goalkeeper Vaishnav Salgaonkar to handle. The ball rolled to overlapping Ranjit Tele who slotted it home.
Earlier, Aryan Salunke saw one of his drives being saved by the Colvale custodian while two of his sitters sailed over the crossbar.
In the 57th minute, Aryan sent a through pass to Sankalp Kankonkar who beat onrushing Colvale goalkeeper Vaishnav.
Colvale were awarded a penalty in the 67th minute when Chapora’s Joaquim Carvalho brought down a Colvale player inside the danger zone. Anford Fernandes stepped forward and scored.
Chapora almost scored their third goal but the Colvale custodian brought off a smart save preventing Aniket Naik from scoring.
In the 87th minute, Chapora’s Arun Naik headed a long ball from Alfred Noronha to make it 3-1.
