AMBELIM: Chinchinim Angels registered a comfortable victory over Skyla Strikers as they beat them 2-0 in the Sevens Women’s Football Festival organised by Goa Sevens and Ambelim Sports Club played at Ambelim Sports Complex, Ambelim, on Sunday.
Marlat Cardozo scored two goals to help Chinchinim Angels to register their third win.
Chinchinim Angels looked the better side since the start of the match. Velanie Fernandes of Chinchinim Angels had the first shot on goal but her shot only managed to hit the crossbar.
Skyla Striker’s Avia Vaz had the first shot on goal for her team but was kept out brilliantly by Chinchinim Angels goalie Joseline D’souza.
Chinchinim Angels’ Velanie Fernandes missed yet another chance to get her name on the scoresheet as she hit the crossbar yet again.
Post resumption, Avia Vaz had a good chance to get Skyla Strikers upfront in the match but again Chinchinim Angels goalkeeper Joseline D’souza came up with a fine save to deny Avia. Moments later, Marlat Cardozo broke the deadlock in the match after her shot crashed into the top left corner of the goal.
Despite several efforts from Skyla Strikers none could fine the back of the net. Marlat Cardozo netted yet another goal after she slotted a ball into the bottom left corner which went past the goalkeeper as the beat the Strikers comfortably.
