MAPUSA: Churchill Brothers FC Goa proved to be too good as they trounced Kelbai SC by 5-0 margin in the 6th Vedanta Women’s League organised by GFA, at Duler stadium, here, on Tuesday.
Churchill Brothers started aggressively and in the very second minute striker Rizella Cia Almeida found the net with a thundering strike to give her side the lead.
Rizella scored from outside the penalty box to net her brace in the 14th minute off a pass from skipper Nevilla Colaco.
A minute later, Vinoshka Fernandes made it 3-0 after darting inside the penalty box and sending the ball to the far corner of the goal.
After Namita Govekar strike rebounded off the crossbar and Aniela Barretto shot was collected by Kelbai keeper Amisha Shetgaonkar in the 35th minute Joizima Fernandes scored with a adroit placement 4-0.
Kelbai came close in reducing the deficit in the 42nd minute but Anshika Gupta was thwarted by Churchill’s keeper Ashika Gadekar.
On crossing over, Churchill’s Brothers eves continued dictating terms but this time the last line of Kelbai defence failed to bulge under pressure.
Skipper Nevilla Colaco strike once again came off the crossbar while Aniela Barretto saw her strike from close brush keeper Amisha for a corner.
However, in the injury time, finally Aniela Barretto completed the rout 5-0.
Churchill’s Rizella Cia Almeida received the man-of-the-match award from Rocky Maymol.
