Goa coach Mariano Dias is confident that his boys will prove to be a tough contender when they defend the title at National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy in Kolkata.
“For me football is life. I cannot think of life without football,” the Goa coach told Herald after finishing an exhaustive training session with the squad at Chowgule College ground, here.
“This is a young and experienced side with plenty of promise,” said Mariano.
The team will be without Climax Lawrence and Mahesh Gawli who have India commitments. Marcus Mascarenhas, Bevan D’Mello, Francis Fernandes, Anthony Barbosa, Cajetan Fernandes have been sidelined due to injuries.
Mariano stated that the preparation was going on as usual with the players being made to work with different strategies. “The players are physically fit and raring to go. We can see that things are going well. We will be playing some practice matches before the team departs for Kolkata.”
