Cocktails & Dreams lift Suri trophy

Cocktails and Dreams Sports Club defeated Palolem United 2-1 via the tie-breaker in 2nd edition of Lalit Suri 7-a-side organised by Lions Club of Canacona in association with The Lalit, Intercontinental Resorts, Rajbag at Devabhag-ground on Sunday.  
CDSC’s striker Aldrich Fernandes surprised their rivals after collecting the ball near the ‘D’ area, dodging a few defenders and shooting straight into the nets.
The winners missed several seaters through captain Cedric Travasso, Terrence and Shawn.
Just before the final call, UP’s Lorino struck the nets, forcing the match into the tie-breaker.
Dreams and Cocktails pocketed Rs 15,000 and a trophy while Palolem United had to be content with Rs 7,000 and a trophy. 
In the semi-finals, Dreams and Cocktails defeated SFX, Bhatpal (2-0), while the second semi-finals, between Palolem United and Canacona United was decided on the tie-breaker (4-3) after a 1-1 draw. 
Rs.2,000 was awarded to the losing semi-finalists.
Following individual prizes were awarded: Best striker: Edgar Fernandes (Unique Boys). Best goalkeeper: Savio D’Cruz (Dreams and Catchers). First goal scorer of the finals: Aldrich Fernandes. Best disciplined team: Devabhaga Boys.
Canacona Municipal Council’s chairperson, Ratnakar Dhuri was the chief guest. Intercontinental Resorts, Rajbag, manager, Guilherme Martins as the guest of honor. The Lalit’s (corporate) GM (HR) Anjali Upadhya and CMC’s councilor, Ajay Bhagat, Simon Rebello, former chairperson, Diwakar Pagui, were present and gave away the prizes.
Club treasurer, Lawrence Barretto, senior member, Mario Fernandes, Lyzia Fernandes, Caitano Fernandes and Manisha Fernandes were amongst those present.
Tournament chairman, Sandeep Dessai, Lions president, Motesino Fernandes welcomed and proposed the vote of thanks, respectively. Manuel Martins compered.
