RAIA: Corjem Sports Club down Novowaddo Sports Club, 6-5, via the tie-breaker to enter into the quarterfinals of Batora United 9-a-side football tournament, organised by Batora United and played at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Wednesday.
Both teams started with high intensity, but neither could break the deadlock, resulting in a 0-0 score at halftime. In the second half, Novowaddo Sports Club took the lead in the 40th minute when Delly Fernandes scored with a powerful header. Corjem responded in the 60th minute with an equaliser from Asford Fernandes, who found the net with a precise finish.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Corjem Sports Club prove to be better shooters.
Austin Fernandes of Novowaddo Sports Club was awarded man-of-the-match by Elton Dias, Batora United Club member.
