RAIA: Guardian Angel SC secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Canacona Cultural and Social Club, advancing to the quarterfinals of the 45th Cana-Benaulim Soccer inter-village tournament, at Dando ground, Benaulim, on Wednesday. The match’s decisive moment came just four minutes in, when Gerito Fernandes expertly scored the only goal. This early lead forced Canacona into a defensive posture for the rest of the first half, which ended with Guardian Angel clinging to their narrow advantage.
In the second half, Canacona dominated possession, with Terrance Lobo’s exceptional playmaking driving multiple attacks. The final ten minutes were a tense struggle, as Guardian Angel stood strong against a wave of Canacona assaults, ultimately holding on to secure the victory and move on to the next round.
