Corps of Signal edge past Calangute Assn

NAVELIM: Corps of Signals defeated Calangute Association 2-1 in the GFA Goa Pro League match at 3MTR ground, Navelim on Thursday.
Ankan Dawn scored an 86th minute match winner for Signals after Calangute’s Bonny Niasso cancelled  Pawan Thakur’s early lead.
Playing at their fortress, Corps of Signals had a slow start with Calangute Association dominating the opening minutes.
Signals’ Pawan Thakur, Ankan Dawn and Th Roshan Singh gelling well upfront which tormented the rival defence while Raj Singh and Kuldeep Kumar stood rock solid in defence. Calangute Association’s Runaal Shirodkar, Sunny Fernandes and Yogesh Kadam combined well to dictate play in the rival territory.
In the 7th minute, Pawan Thakur gave the Corps of Signals an early lead with well timed shot that gave no chance to the rival keeper, off L Solomon’s assist,
In the 15th minute, Signals had the opportunity to double their lead but Pawan Thakur’s free kick was blocked by Olan Chandran of Calangute.
Crossing over, Calangute Association had a glorious chance to restore parity, but Melvin Lobo failed to connect Terence Lobo’s cross. 
In the 50th minute, Ankan Dawn’s long range shot sailed over the Calangute Association bar.
Finally in the 65th minute, Bonny Niasso levelled terms for Calangute Association with a powerful shot off Terence assist.
Signals scored the match-winner in the 86th minute through Ankan Dawn.
