RAIA: Cumborda SC edged past hosts Sporting Club of Virabhat FC 5-4 via tie-breaker to emerge champions in the finals of 9-a-side inter-ward football tournament organised by Sporting Club of Virabhat, at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, recently.
Joslon Fernandes and Cristo Hilario netted a goal each for SC Virabhat in the 4th and 11th minutes respectively while for Cumborda SC Myrick Hilario and Alivison Fernandes scored in the 29th and 31st minutes respectively.
At the end of regulation time, both the teams settled for a 2-2 draw. In the resultant tie-breaker, Cumborda SC proved to be better shooters.
Curtorim Constituency MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of well-known former India and Dempo Sports Club coach Armando Colaco, other dignitaries and club officials.
