Cuncolim enter quarters

Cuncolim Union scored a fluent 4-0 win over Carmona Sports Club to enter the quarter-final of 2nd Alvernaz and Lalush Alemao memorial inter-village football tournament organised by Churchill Brothers at Varca ground, on Monday. Cuncolim Union were leading 1-0 at the breather.
Cuncolim Union began the match with speed and purpose and were all over the rival territory. Striker Vollney Furtado, playing in the deep, was a constant threat.
Cuncolim Union fired the first salvo when striker Vollney Furtado scored following a goalmouth scramble.
Crossing over, Cuncolim Union continued from where they had left and pumped in goals at regular intervals. Melwyn Fernandes doubled the lead off a cross from Perryson Rebello.
Carmona defenders allowed plenty of space for Cuncolim Union strikers to operate freely inside their territory.
Vollney Furtado for the second time did all the hard work as he cut past several defenders and beat the rival goalkeeper hands down off a cross from Ulhas Gaonkar.
Five minutes from close, striker Vollney Furtado scored his third goal off a cross from Ulhas Gaonkar.
Vollney Furtado of Cuncolim Union, for his heroic efforts, was adjudged man-of-the match. Kenendy Alemao was the chief guest and distributed the prize.
