MARGAO: Cuncolim Union beat Navelim SC 3-0 to enter the semi-finals of the Martins Cup football tournament, at Betalbatim ground, on Wednesday.
Treston D’Costa and Frazor Fernandes scored in the first half and Sangam Gaonkar scored in the second as Cuncolim secured a comfortable win.
Treston finished off a through ball from Micky as he dribbled past the Navelim defenders and scored.
Cuncolim scored their second in the 20th minute. Frazor Fernandes made a run at goal after a ball from the back was launched into the penalty box of Navelim SC. Frazor managed to chip the ball over the goalkeeper after he reached the ball before the goalkeeper.
Navelim had a few chances with Esther Fernandes and Anil Shivolkar trying to test the Cuncolim defence. But they stood firm and didn’t allow Navelim SC to make any sort of impression in the first half.
The second half followed a similar script with Cuncolim dominating and creating the chances.
They managed to seal the game with a goal from Sangam Gaonkar making it 3-0 as they sailed into the semi-finals.
