PANJIM: A fine display of technical accumen by Curtorim Gymkhana helped them to defeat Parish Youth Nuvem 5-2 in the finals of the Nagoa Village Panchayat Cup 2012 organized by Pax of Nagoa Sports Club at Nagoa ground on Thursday.

Curtorim opened their account in the 5th minute through the boots of Vicky Cardozo off a pass from Milagres Fernandes. Curtorim doubled their lead in the 18th minute through Melvin Fernandes off a pass by Valzino Fernandes.

Down by two, Nuvem tried to draw level and their hard work paid off when Jerose Oliveira scored for Nuvem in the 20th minute off a free kick by Remy Colaco. The score at half time was 2-1 in favour of Curtorim.

The change of ends saw both the teams playing to their respective game plan but Nuvem could not sustain the pressure of Curtorim boys who succeeded in scoring their 3rd goal through the boots of Milagres Fernandes.

The Curtorim lads showed no mercy and were at their best as they pumped in their 4th goal to take lead of 4-1. In the 40th minute, Curtorim sealed their game with their 5th goal through the boots of Stephen Fernandes assisted by Nelson Fernandes.

At the fag end, Nuvem were awarded a penalty and Remy Colaco was successful from the spot kick.

Earlier the Chief Guest of the finals Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and Guest of Honour Francisco Xavier Pacheco were presented with mementos by the village sarpanch Franky Vales.

Savio Pinto compèred the whole program and Angela Fernandes gave the vote of thanks.
