CAVELOSSIM: CYA Mobor Veterans registered a solitary goal win over Assolda Veterans to lift the 1st all Goa late Joseph Alves Veterans soccer trophy organised by Cavelossim Villagers forum, at Father Drustian Wellington ground, Cavelossim, recently.
CYA Mobor were dominant from the first half of the match which remained goalless.
After change of ends, Assolda tried to score on two occasions but they were denied by the alert CYA Mobor goalkeeper Romeo. In the 45th minute, Mobor’s Raju Cardozo’s shot came off the Assolda cross bar resulting in a rebound which was headed in by Neil D’Cruz to give CYA Mobor the lead in closing minutes totally destroyed Assolda’s resistance to come back into the game.
Captain Virato Fernandes was chief guest and gave away the cash awards of Rs 30,000 to the winners and Rs 25,000 to the runners along with the trophies in the presence of other dignitaries and club officials.
