GUDI-PARODA: Damodar English HS, Gudi – Paroda & St Mary’s HS, Varca move into the second round of the 2nd Ramnath D. Volvotkar memorial inter-school football tournament organised by “Insight” The Society for Sports, Culture, Youth Affairs & Charity of Gudi Paroda, at Gudi – Paroda ground, on Saturday.
In the first match, Damodar English HS downed Holy Cross Institute, Quepem 3-0.
In a one-sided affair, Damodar EHS opened the scoring in the very third minute by striker Omkar Gaonkar who beat the goalkeeper of Holy Cross Institute Prinson Fernandes.
After taking the lead at the breather, Damodar EHS scored two more goals in the second session.
Mohammad Sohid doubled the lead in the 36th minute while Rohan Gaonkar made issue safer for Damodar EHS team scoring the third goal in the 44th minute.
In the second match, St Mary’s HS pipped Mae Dos Pobres HS, Nuvem 2-0.
The winners led by a solitary goal scored by Wilson Baa after capitalising on a cross by Jairus Pereira in the 22nd minute.
St Mary’s HS doubled the lead through Wilson Baa on his solo-effort in the 52nd minute. Wilson Baa who scored a brace was adjudged as player-of-the-match.
