PANJIM: After initially running close on the rivals DBO Juniors, Panjim succumbed to DBO, Fatorda 38-89 in the first semi-final of Fr Castellino memorial basketball tournament, at Loyola High School court, Margao, Sunday.
Showing great skills, Daley and Malivai top scored with 24 and 18 points respectively for Fatorda while Roy with 16 managed to reduce the margin for the losers.
In the second semi-final which was a much closer affair, KJ’s Panjim squeezed past Raiders, Porvorim 39-36. The match which was decided in the last few minutes had Nayab top scoring for the Panjim team while Johan with 14 kept the game on edge till the end.
DBO, Fatorda and KJ’s Panjim will now battle for the top honour in the finals.
