Dempo rally, overcome JCT

Panjim, Feb 25: Dempo came from behind to beat JCT 2-1 in a round XVI encounter of I-League at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Gurgaon on Friday.
Gurtej Singh’s opener was cancelled out by Ranty Martins with Roberto Mendes Silva netting the winner down the wire for Dempo.
JCT took the surprise lead in the 13th minute from a goalkeeping error by Subhashish Roy Chowdhury, who failed to clear the ball, on which alert Gurtej made no mistake to put his side in front.
Dempo retaliated and it was once again their captain Ranty Martins, who brought his side back into the match levelling in the 29th minute following a goal mouth melee. Dempo definitely looked the better side after clinching the equaliser but failed to add any more goals to their tally at half time which read 1-1.
Roberto Mendes Silva (Beto) notched the winning goal in the closing minutes (87’) and Dempo garnered three crucial away points to take their tally to 28 points from 15 matches, while JCT remained on 14 having played one more match.
Beto was rightly adjudged man-of-the match for his impressive performance today.
