DULER: Dempo Sports Club blanked Football Club de Bardez Goa by a 3-0 win in the GFA’s Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Thursday.
At half-time the winners led by a 2-0 margin with Anthony D’Souza and Kapil Hoble scoring the goals.
Dempo SC showed that they meant business right from the start and shot into the lead in the very 6th minute of play when Beevan D’Mello charged into the Bardez danger zone and unleashed a powerful shot which was kept away by Bardez custodian Bilal Khan only to see Anthony D’Souza who was lurking nearby fire the ball home to make it 1-0.
FC Bardez almost responded with an equaliser three minutes later however Dempo SC keeper Tyson Caiado did a brilliant job to stop Myron Mendes’s powerful volley from entering the goal.
The Golden Eagles were guilty of wasting two open scoring opportunities where first Germanpreet Singh’s powerful shot sailed inches past FC Bardez goal and couple of minutes later Nigerian Odili Chidi set up goal scorer Anthony D’Souza whose strike was kept away by keeper Bilal Khan.
The pressure put up by Dempo SC finally paid dividends when in the 27th minute Felix Odili Chidi got the better of FC Bardez defenders and sent the ball towards unmarked Kapil Hoble who made no mistake in scoring, 2-0.
Crossing over, FC Bardez on receiving some choice words from Coach Armando Colaco initiated several threatening moves, however they failed to get the ball into the rival nets till the very end.
Jessel Carneiro ran down the right flank and flashed the ball into the Dempo danger zone, however keeper Tyson got his hands to the ball before Myron Mendes could get his feet to the ball.
Nickson Castanha did a fine job in the Dempo SC defence to stop Latesh Mandrekar and Girish Naik from creating any damage.
In the 68th minute, FC Bardez had a close shave at scoring when Girish Naik crossed the ball towards Nigerian Koko Sakibo whose powerful header hit the Dempo SC woodwork.
In the final three minutes of the match Dempo SC further inflated the lead when Milagres Gonsalves on getting hold of the ball covered a few yards and sent the ball towards Germanpreet Singh who drilled the ball into the Bardez nets to take the tally to 3-0.
