PANJIM: Dempo SC came from a goal down to beat Cuncolim Union 2-1 in the GENO First Division League organised by Goa Football Association (GFA), played at Artificial Turf, Fatorda, on Wednesday.
The Cuncolim side were quick to open the scoring as Sclachie Cardozo scored with a fine finish into the post past the Eagles keeper.
The later half of the session failed to see any more goals as both sides played a midfield game.
The second half witnessed complete turn around of events as the Dempo side came all out in attack.
Norman Dias made it all square in the 47th minute with a superb finish into the nylons.
As the Cuncolim side thought they would sharepoints, Dempo SC came with the all important winner through Sachin Gawas in the 86th minute to snatch away points from the Cuncolim team.
At Navelim ground, Velsao SCC defeated UC Telaulim by a similar margin, 2-1.
The Telaulim side were the first to look at goal as Mabel Miranda scored in the 12th minute but Velsao side made it 1-1 in the 27th minute courtesy to Agnelo Colaço’s fine finish.
In the second half, Manushawn Fernandes scored the winner for the Velsao side in the 51st minute as they held on to their slender lead to walk away with full points.
At Sirsaim ground, Goa Police and Salgaocar FC played out a goalless draw as neither of the sides managed to break the deadlock within the given play time.
