Devesh clinches Monsoon Cup

PANJIM: Devesh Naik of Ponda Taluka won the 1st Monsoon Cup All Goa Open Rapid chess tournament, organised by Queens Chess and Cultural Club, at Mahalaxmi temple hall, Panjim, recently. 

Devesh scored 7 points in 8 rounds.

WCM Swera Braganca of Tiswadi Taluka and Mandar Lad of Bardez Taluka with 7 points each were finished second and third respectively. 

Rishikesh Parab with 7 points, WCM Gunjal Chopdekar, Asmita Ray and Vivaan Ballikar with 6.5 points each were placed in the fourth to seventh position. 

Sarthak Naik and Vania Dukle (U-7),  Rishit Gawas and Skyla Rodrigues (U-9), Sairaj Narvenkar and Lyia Silveira (U-11), Sahil Shetty and Grisha Singbal (U-13), Sahil Naik and Alana Andrade (U-15), Kanak Moye (Best Woman), Aryan Uscoiker and Disha Malgaonkar (Best Tiswadi) and Prasad Naik (Best Veteran) were the age category winners. Evan Telles was awarded the youngest player prize.

Chief Guest Rukhma Quenim congratulated the players and gave away the prizes in the presence guest of honour, GCA President, Mahesh Candolkar, Dr Brendon Peroz. GCA Vice President,  Dr. Satyawan Harmalkar, Atish Angle, Queens Club Secretary Sarika Chopdekar, treasurer Vishala Shetty, members Dr. Rekha Poduwal, Teja Hadkonkar and Renuka Hawal also gave away the prizes.
