CURCHOREM: A special youth from Pontemoll, Curchorem Suvet Lotlikar (29) has been selected for this year Special Olympic World Summer Games 2019 in Powerlifting category which will be held from March 14 to 21, at Abu-Dhabi.
He is the son of Satish and Sarita Lotlikar and studying in a special children school of Chetana Educational Society, Curchorem and trained at Sport Authority of Goa complex, Curchorem under the guidance of SAG coach Ravi Dessai.
According to his coach, Suvet underwent four preparatory camps which was organised by Special Olympic Bharat in last two years at Haryana, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. “Suvet have cleared all these camps successfully and finally selected for Special Olympic Games. It is a proud moment for his parents and us as he finally succeeded after his hard work for the last 12 years under my guidance,” said Dessai proudly.
Expressing uncontrolled happiness his father Satish said that his son’s love and dedication along with hard work has brought him to this level and it is not only a proud moment for them but for entire State of Goa particularly for Curchorem people.
Recalling his son’s childhood days, Satish informed that he developed the interest in powerlifting when he was studying in the school which is situated near the SAG gymnasium.
“He was always watching the body builders who were visiting the gymnasium and suddenly one day he has shown his interest and asked me to do his admission in the gym where he got training from his coach Dessai,” said Lotlikar.
