PANJIM: Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda defeated Valpoi FC 3-1 to storm into the semi-finals of 28th St Anne’s Festival inter-village soccer, at Animal Husbandry ground, Curti-Ponda, on Wednesday.
Francis, Craston and Nicolau scored for Fatorda while Afridi reduced the margin for Valpoi FC.
At half time the score was 2-1. The match was played at a very fast pace with both teams displaying attacking soccer.
DBO Fatorda took the lead as Nicolau from the flank chipped and Francis headed inside the goal to make it 1-0.
Valpoi FC equilized from a free kick as Afridi’s shot pierced through the wall to make it 1-1.
DBO Fatorda took the lead when Craston got a loose ball on top of the box and his shot beat the Valpoi FC keeper to make it 2-1.
Soon DBO Fatorda increased the lead when Joel from the flank chipped and Valpoi FC defender’s header landed at the feet of Niclaou whose shot entered the nets to make it 3-1 at full-time.
DBO Fatorda will meet Goa Velha SC in the semis on July 24, while Host Ponda Footballers take on Parish Youth Nuvem on July 23.
