CUNCOLIM: Dramapur Sports Club registered a solitary goal win over Uguem Rising Sports Club of Sanguem to enter into the last eight of the 7th Cuncolim Union Trophy All-Goa Inter Village football tournament, organized by Cuncolim Union, at Cuncolim School ground, Cuncolim, on Tuesday.
The all-important goal of the match was scored in the 14th minute by Tunard Fernandes as he headed in a cross by Sunny Simoes from the left flank.
Uguem Rising came up strongly in the second session and could have equalized but missed a golden opportunity to score from the penalty spot. Salvador Rebello handled the ball in the danger area but Desmod Pereira’s effort was blocked by rival custodian David Rebello.
Thereafter, Dramapur SC’s Saflon D’Costa, Sunny Simoes and Tunard Fernandes missed to score.
On Monday, Don Bosco Oratory (DBO), Fatorda started their campaign in style with a 3-0 win over Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club to move into the quarter-finals. Don Bosco Oratory were leading 2-0 at the breather.
It was Ashley Araujo, who gave the early lead to Don Bosco Oratory as he beat goalkeeper Louis Dias all hands down off a through pass received from Minguel Baretto in the fifth minute.
Five minutes later, Clencio Pinto doubled the lead for Don Bosco Oratory after dribbling past two defenders and later goalkeeper of Areal.
Aggio Antao and Alvito Moura of Sao Jose de Areal SC missed easy scoring chances in the second session. Joel Camara put the issue beyond doubt for Don Bosco Oratory, scoring in the 49th minute.
