AGENCIES, PUNE: DSK Shivajians are likely to part ways with coach Derrick Pereira as the I-League newbies are keen on roping a foreign coach.
Pereira, an experienced coach, led the club to a ninth place finish in the I-League.
However, they only suffered two defeats in the last nine games after the addition of the likes of Juan Quero and Sandesh Jhingan. It must be noted that DSK Shivajians were a late entrant into the country’s top division and Pereira didn’t have enough time to build a strong squad or have a proper pre-season in order to ensure that the players gel with each other.
The Goan coach has been involved as a head coach in every edition of the I-League since its inception in 2007 with the likes of Mahindra United, Pune FC and Salgaocar FC.
It will be interesting to see if he gets another opportunity to coach in what will be the final edition of the I-League in 2016-17 season. When contacted Pereira, he chose not to comment.
