A spirited East Bengal rode on Beingaichho Beiokhokhei’s double strike to register a 2-1 win over Chirag United in their round 24 ONGC I-League clash at Yuba Bharati Krirangan here on Tuesday.
 East Bengal scored through man-of-the-match Beiokhokhei in the 40th and 67thminutes.
     Chirag United’s midfield, which could not control the pace of the game, managed to reduce the margin through Joshimar Martins in the 69th minute.
     The victory enabled the Kolkata stalwarts to climb to the eighth spot and scamper out of the drop zone with 28 points from 22 matches.
     Chirag United, on the other hand, remained on 32 points, with two matches remaining. They are now winless for seven matches on the trot.
