CHICALIM: An 87th minute goal by Ejaj Ali helped Vaddem Sports Club breezed past Cross Boys Sports Club, New Vaddem 3-2 in the Mormugao Zone GFA’s 3rd Division League at Chicalim panchayat ground.
Vaddem were leading 1-0 at half-time. Cross Boys started the game strongly and tested the Vaddem keeper twice in two minutes but they were unlucky. Vaddem’s star performer Princely Oliveiro put his side 1-0 with a breath taking goal inside 15 minutes.
In the second half, Raliston Fernandes equalized for Cross Boys only for Kingsley Oliveiro to put Vaddem ahead in the 66th minute.
Cross Boys fought back gallantly and Raliston Fernandes who had a good outing today scored again to put his team on level terms.
It was a ding dong battle for supremacy between the teams, but Vaddem managed to score through Ejaj Ali in a goalmouth melee in the dying minutes of the game to give Vaddem a hard fought victory.
Cross Boys fought hard to get the much needed equalizer but Vadem defender Jose Fernandes stood like a rock to thwart their attempts.
Candolim SC, Vailankanni
St. Domnic Savio win
In other matches of Bardez Zone, Candolim SC humbled Nerul SC 7-3. Cliber D’Souza and Paul Cardozo scored hat-tricks in the 40′, 42′, 56′ and 46′, 53′, 90′ minutes respectively. Anthony D’Souza added to the tally in the 39th minute. Deeraj Sangelkar 24′, Prasad 43′ and Amit Naik 83′ scored for the losers.
Vailankanni FSC, Morjim thrashed El Shaddai Sports and Cultural Club 5-1. Cedric Rodrigues, Leslie Fernandes and Clyde Fernandes scored one each for Vailankanni while Raju Naik was the lone scorer for El Shaddai.
St. Domnic Savio SC outplayed Augustias SC 4-2.
