MARGAO: Chennaiyin FC captain Elano Blumer was released on bail early Monday morning by the Margao Town Police after furnishing a surety bond of Rs 1 lakh. He flew out of the country on the same  day.
In the FIR, he has been charged for criminal restraint by the complainant after the final match between FC Goa and Chennai FC for assaulting the complainant and also abusing him with filthy words.
Counsel for Elano, advocate Rajiv Gomes while speaking to media said that the incident has set a wrong precedent for foreign players to play in India and feels that the FC Goa has to be disqualified from the tournament for this conduct.
Elano Blumer was in police custody from 10 p.m. to 2.30 a.m. Elano was being continuously pushed to hand over his passport by the police even after he was not asked for the same by the Judge.
Gomes said “disappointment and frustration which has been vented out has spoiled the image of Goa in Football arena. Equally surprising is that the complainant not turning up for medical examination even after alleging assault”.
It was further learnt that the incident being a Trial of Summons case won’t require the player to physically come and attend the hearing at the Court.
However, the loss may have or have not pleased the owners but the anger of people and the diehard FC Goa fans was showing at the police station on Sunday night as several angered fans called it a fixed match.
