NAVELIM: Fatorda Veterans defeated Curtorim Veterans 5-4 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of the Navelim Veterans football tournament, at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Tuesday.
Jackson Sequeira the goalkeeper of Curtorim was the star of the match for his brilliant goalkeeping as he saved best shots which came from the boots of Agnelo Araujo and Robin Pinheiro, both strikers of Fatorda in the 10th and 15th minutes respectively.
Curtorim had the best chance of the match with Glorio D’Mello connecting a well measured ball to Seby Faleiro but the Fatorda keeper Albert dived to his full length to save the power-packed shot in the 20th minute.
Daniel Gomes of Curtorim header missed the nets of Fatorda in the 25th minute.
Both teams tried their level best to convert but their strikers lacked the finishing stirke.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Fatorda Veterans proved to be the better shooters.
