MAPUSA: FC Goa managed to register a well deserved 2-1 win over Assonora United FC in the GFA’s Second Division league held at Guirim grounds, here, on Thursday.
The teams were locked in a 1-1 draw at the breather.
Brandon Pereira opened the account in the 12th minute for Young Gaurs with a magnificent volley.
Hardly had the cheers died down Assonora’s Francis Morrison latched a long ranger which crashed into the back of the nylons 1-1.
On crossing over Young Gaurs time and again attacked the rival citadel but were successful only in the 85th minute, as Brandon netted his brace with a superb individual brilliancy to give full points for his team.
At Duler stadium, FC Tuem came from a goal down to hold Benny XI to a 2-2 draw.
For Benny XI, colts David Pereira and Flyod Pereira scored while for FC Tuem unit Wilson Fernandes and Semson Fernandes scored.
The match saw a flurry of yellow cards, with Musafar Husain, Semson Fernandes, and Roque Borges cautioned for FC Tuem, and Edwin Viegas, Saish G, and David Pereira receiving yellow cards for Benny XI SC.
At Navelim Church ground, Carmel Sports Club and Curtorim Gymkhana played 1-1 draw.
Both the goals were scored in second session. Carmel SC took lead in the 48th minutes of the game through Sandroy Costa while Curtorim Gymkhana equalised in the 89th minutes through Afran Sayed.
