FC Goa rope in Richarlyson

AGENCIES, PANJIM: FC Goa have acted quickly after losing out on Leo Moura for the Indian Super League (ISL) season 3, by snapping up the services of Richarlyson Barbosa Felisbino, simply known as Richarlyson.

The Gaurs had completed and announced the re-signing of their star of season two, Moura, but the 38-year-old’s return to the franchise could not see the light of the day.
The former Flamengo skipper’s current club, Santa Cruz, decided they could not afford to let go of his services amidst their efforts to survive in the Braziliero Serie A.
Zico and Co. have moved on from the aforementioned saga to sign Richarlyson, a former Sao Paulo FC and Atletico Mineiro defensive midfield player. He has close to 150 appearances for Sao Paulo FC and has also featured twice for the Brazilian national team. The 33-year-old has won the Braziliero Serie A on three occassions and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2005, both with the Tricolor. He has been plying his trade for Brazilian second division side Novorizontino recently, making five appearances this season.
The midfielder, who is striker Alec Sandro’s brother, signed on Wednesday, earlier this week. The contract is valid until the end of the third edition of the ISL.
Richarlyson has joined the rest of the FC Goa squad, currently being put through their paces by head coach Zico at his academy in Rio de Janiero.
