PANJIM: FC Goa thrashed Quitula SC (GFDC) 5-0 to enter the semi-finals of the All-Goa tournament as champions of the North District, recently.
FC Goa started on a very positive note and played a high octane attacking game. The team had four clear openings in the initial stages of the match as they pressed very high up the field.
Asfin Pinto, Ruben Castelino and Chadel Fernandes worked their magic in midfield and Aaron Dias and Rayan Menezes kept it very tight at the back. Valenton Carvalho proved a handful for the opposition with his raw pace and broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute.
FC Goa picked up where they left off in the first half and started off on the front foot. And within three minutes of the restart, they doubled their lead. Asfin Pinto picked up a ball from Castelino and cut in on the left and unleashed a powerful right-footer.
Soon, Ruben Castelino made it three as he found space in front of him and struck a long range from 25 yards in the 65th minute.
To round off the scoring, Valenton Carvalho added two more goals and completed his hat trick in the final ten minutes of the game.
