NAVELIM: Fr Agnel, Pilar defeated Salgaocar FC 1-0 in the boys category of OORJA-CAPF’s Youth U-19 talent hunt tournament, organised by CISF West Sector, Mumbai and played at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Friday.
Fr Agnel striker Boris D’Mello was outstanding throughout the match.
In the second minute, Boris took control of the ball from Frank and made a daunting run into the Salgaocar SC territory but the former’s his shit was easily saved by Salgaocar FC keeper Vialli Rodrigues.
When the match was 15 minutes old, Fhezer Gomes should have found at the back of Fr Agnel nets but Manjunath blocked his move.
Salgaocar FC missed a glorious chance in the 29th minute when Claide Fernandes shot wide from touching distance.
There scores were level 0-0 at the break.
Boris scored the match winner for Fr Agnel from a direct free-kick in the 56th minute.
Fr Agnel dominated the second session as they kept more ball possession that forced the Salgaocar FC to press.
Salgaocar FC tried their level best to get into the match, but they couldn’t beat the resolute Fr Agnel, Pilar defending.
In the girls’ section, Rosary HSS defeated Deepvihar HSS,Vasco 5-0. In another match, Carmel HSS, Nuvem defeated Mount Mary’s Chinchinim 5-0 at Nagoa ground.
