DAVORLIM: Sezwin Fernandes scored the all important goal as Fr Agnel YC, Paroda defeated Cuncolim Union 1-0 to lift the 13th Davorlim Cup 2019 organised by SC Davorlim at VP Davorlim ground on Sunday.
Both the team had equal opportunities to score.
Trenoy Dias of Cuncolim missed the first best chance of the match as his shot was denied by Paroda. There after Sezwin Fernandes’ (Paroda) long ranger failed to pop up into Cuncolim’s net.
It was Sezwin who took an air bond shot which got the deflection of Cuncolim’s defender and crashed into Cuncolim’s net in the 41st minute.
The winners were richer by Rs 40,000 while the runners up had to settle for Rs 30,000 besides trophies.
Earlier referee’s Milagres Noronha, Akash Telgu, Santan Fernandes and Seby Faleiro were felicitated on the occasion.
Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners up in the presence of Filomena Costa, other dignitaries and club officials.
