CHANDOR: Fr Agnelo Youth SC, Paroda beat Dicarpale Sports Club 3-0 via the tie-breaker in the finals of Guirdolim Panchayat Cup football tournament at Chandor church complex on Sunday.
The large Sunday gathering was treated to a cracker of a match.
Fr Agnelo’s Shrine Clemente hit the woodwork in the 10th minute. Later, Mack Borges of Dicarpale’s try was saved by Pravesh Borkar.
Changing over, Paroda were slightly dominant and in the 45th minute, a long range effort by Velroy hit the crossbar. Later, Paroda’s Omkar Gaunkar headed goalwards, but Francisco Colaco brought off a diving save.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Kanchan Kiro, Velroy Carvalho and Joel Furtado scored for Paroda. Paroda’s goalkeeper Pravesh Borkar saved all three penalty kicks of Dicarpale.
Fr Agnelo won the trophy and Rs 50,000. Dicarpale had to be content with the runners-up trophy and Rs 40000.
Earlier Club President, Patwin Fizardo welcomed. Fr. Jean Da Cruz presided. Melissa Alemao was the chief guest. General Secretary Darwin Cardoso proposed the vote of thanks.
