Zico’s men have a terrific history in the cash-rich league. They have risen like phoenix from the ashes in ISL season 1. Bottom of the table at the end of first phase, FC Goa went on to finish the league on second position and lose out in semi-final against ATK.
The Goan fans had high expectation in the ISL season three considering the team second best in 2015 season. But the current scenario has irked the fans.
The team has struggled to find the rhythm and attain any positive results in their previous six games. FC Goa once known for their attacking prowess with the likes of Andre Santos in season 1 and Leo Moura in season two –has failed to click this time around albeit Zico added Brazilian players like Richalyson, Trinidade, Dumas etc. But none created any impact like Santos or Moura.
Where are Romeo and Mandar? Why isn’t Zico playing them? That’s a question many FC Goa fans ask today as the team has failed to produce the attacking flair as the Brazilian has opted rather a defensive approach to the games.
Romeo and Mandar are both fan favourites but the duo hasn’t played as expected.
After the season two finale fracas ended on a positive note for FC Goa, the team were expected to perform well with the return of Zico. However, Zico claimed that his team suffered from the above issue and he is yet in a process of building the team according to his plan.
With almost half-way mark, and the league quite open for FC Goa to qualify for the play-offs, can Zico repeat the history yet again?
