GBA secretary backs Sports Code

PANJIM: The Goa Olympic Association (GOA) will hold their managing committee meeting today to discuss upon the dates to conduct the upcoming elections.

PANJIM: The Goa Olympic Association (GOA) will hold their managing committee meeting today to discuss upon the dates to conduct the upcoming elections. However, secretary and member Sandeep Heble from a rather different sporting body (Goa Badminton Association) highlighted the administrative concerns and a need of good governance by implementing the sports code.
 As The Goa Football Association (GFA) in its recent General Body meeting amended its constitution bringing it in lines with the Sports Code, the Goa Badminton Association secretary Heble has urged to the State Olympic body to conduct the election on similar grounds.
Sandeep in his letter to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar marked carbon copy to Sports Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar, SAG Executive Director, President/ Secretary Indian Olympic Association  stated that “The Circular issued by Col Rajyavardhan Rathore, Minister of State (IC) Youth Affairs and Sports and addressed to the Hon. Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, wherein the Union Sports Minister has urged the State to implement the National Sports Development Code of India, which promotes principles of good governance and contains various instructions on bringing transparency into Sports Bodies. 
The Sports Code includes various good governance principles such as age and tenure clauses, representations to sportspersons, protection of interests of players, anti doping and age fraud measures, etc.
